Following President Donald Trump’s remarks after the G7 summit, the Kremlin criticized European leaders, claiming they had tried to influence the U.S. president’s position on the war in Ukraine. The statement was made by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, according to RBC-Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n“The issue of Ukraine was actively discussed during the G7 summit. One can assume that Trump was being fed, I would say, ideas that were probably not beneficial, if not outright harmful.”<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Ushakov also said that the Kremlin has had no contacts with the Trump administration since the conclusion of the G7 summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On June 16, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy attended the G7 meeting alongside Donald Trump. Following the talks, G7 leaders agreed on a joint position to further support Ukraine, including increased deliveries of air defense systems, additional anti-aircraft equipment, and interceptor missiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ahead of the official session, G7 leaders reportedly used a working dinner to argue that Russia was losing momentum on the battlefield while Ukraine was making gains. Zelenskyy also personally showed Trump photographs of the damaged Assumption Cathedral following a Russian strike, which reportedly left a strong impression on the U.S. president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the summit, Trump endorsed the G7 joint declaration on Ukraine and praised Ukraine’s performance in the war against Russia.
