A fire broke out in the industrial zone of Nizhnekamsk, Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan, after authorities issued a drone attack warning. The affected area includes the TAIF-NK, TANECO, and Nizhnekamskneftekhim oil refining and petrochemical facilities, according to OSINT analysis published by ASTRA.
Witnesses reported explosions early on July 8, while videos circulating online appear to show what is believed to be a Ukrainian FP-1 drone flying over the industrial complex before the strike. Analysts suggest that TAIF-NK, located next to the TANECO refinery, may have been one of the intended targets.
Nizhnekamsk Mayor Radmir Belyayev confirmed that a drone threat had been declared for Nizhnekamsk as well as the nearby cities of Zainsk, Yelabuga, and Naberezhnye Chelny. Although the immediate alert for the city was later lifted, drone threat measures remain in effect across Tatarstan.
TAIF-NK and TANECO are among Russia’s largest oil refining facilities, while Nizhnekamskneftekhim is one of Europe’s biggest petrochemical producers. The incident follows a recent Ukrainian long-range drone strike on the Omsk refinery, which set a reported record by covering approximately 2,500 kilometers.
