In the ongoing conflict, Russia and Ukraine have adopted fundamentally different strategic approaches. While Russia continues its campaign of terror against civilians and heritage, Ukrainian forces are systematically dismantling the infrastructure fueling the invasion, Euro24 reports.
On June 15, Russian forces struck Kyiv, causing massive destruction to residential neighborhoods and cultural landmarks—including sites near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, museums, and historical monuments. Five civilians were killed. On June 17–18, residential buildings were once again targeted, with no reports of strikes on military facilities.
In response, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a decisive blow on June 16 and 18, targeting the Moscow Oil Refinery. This facility is the heart of Russia’s military logistics, producing the specialized aviation fuel and diesel required to power their fighter jets and armored columns.
The contrast in tactics is stark. Russia is directing its fire toward cultural erasure and civilian casualties, while Ukraine is focused on cutting the fuel arteries that sustain the Russian war machine. By neutralizing these strategic assets, Ukraine is not only degrading the invasion force but is actively working to dismantle the logistical capabilities that make this aggression possible.
