Russia’s brutal campaign against Ukraine’s maritime logistics has crossed every legal and moral line. By annihilating Ukrainian grain ports and attacking international cargo ships in the Black Sea, Moscow seeks to monopolize African food markets through pure coercion. This is economic terrorism on a global scale, engineered to starve populations and shatter international trade rules.
Faced with this ongoing terror, Ukraine has every legal right under international law to strike back at the aggressor’s supply lines. The recent Ukrainian strike on the port of Taman was a completely legitimate military operation. While Russian missiles hit civilian grain terminals and foreign merchant ships, Taman functions as a vital energy artery supplying the Russian occupation forces in Crimea. The international community must draw a clear line: Russian terror-attacks on grain are war crimes, whereas Ukraine’s defensive strikes on military-logistics infrastructure are fully justified.
