In response to Russia’s ongoing naval escalation in the Black Sea, Ukrainian forces launched a devastating long-range missile strike against key vessels and infrastructure at the Russian Naval Fleet base. The combined operation utilized both advanced Ukrainian-developed munitions—including an extended-range version of the “Neptune” missile—and high-precision Western-supplied systems. Russian air defense units proved entirely powerless to intercept the incoming attack.
According to Ukrainian monitoring groups, the barrage damaged several high-value Russian naval assets, including the frigates Admiral Makarov and Admiral Essen, a Project 266M minesweeper, the auxiliary vessel Viktor Cherokov, a Project 22160 patrol ship, and the intelligence vessel Priazovye. Ground infrastructure supporting Russia’s 4th Submarine Brigade was also hit, inflicting critical damage on essential operational logistics.
The severe losses and total failure of base air defenses have triggered widespread demoralization among Russian naval personnel. Reports indicate growing desertion rates among sailors, while Russian officers are en masse submitting transfer requests out of the Black Sea Fleet due to acute fears for their lives.
