Ukraine is expected to respond in kind to Russia’s actions this winter, according to the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation.
On the morning of August 14, Russia’s Defense Ministry published an image on Telegram showing Shahed-type attack drones with the caption “Like snow on your head.” The post was accompanied by a warning that Ukrainians would face a “freeze” this winter, potentially signaling plans to intensify attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure.
In response, Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, said Russia would face a reciprocal response. He noted that Russia’s Defense Ministry had effectively warned its own population about the possible consequences of Moscow’s policies.
According to Kovalenko, continued Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure could result in corresponding strikes against facilities inside Russia. He stressed that any such consequences would stem from decisions made by the Russian leadership itself.
The day before, it was reported that Ukraine had proposed a mutual halt to strikes against civilian facilities in the Black Sea. According to Reuters sources, Kyiv conveyed the proposal to Moscow through a third-party intermediary and is currently awaiting Russia’s response.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also recently confirmed that Ukraine had submitted its proposals to the United States regarding further steps aimed at increasing pressure on Russia and helping bring the war closer to an end.
