Kremlin Escalates Brutal Air Campaign

On Monday morning, September 7, the situation in eastern Ukraine escalated once again as a result of another brutal act of violence against the civilian population. Russian military units launched a series of targeted airstrikes on the city of Kramatorsk, employing heavy FAB-250 high-explosive aerial bombs equipped with universal planning and correction modules (UMPK). These guided munitions allow for strikes to be carried out from distant positions, turning peaceful residential areas into targets.

According to regional law enforcement agencies, at least four direct hits were recorded in densely populated districts. Several multi-story residential buildings and parked private vehicles sustained destruction. Two men, aged 45 and 66, were killed inside their own homes. Four other residents, including three women and one man, sustained severe blast injuries, shrapnel wounds, and fractures. The victims are currently receiving necessary medical assistance.

This shelling occurred against the backdrop of a complete absence of any military actions or retaliatory strikes against Russian territory by Ukraine. Despite official Kremlin statements claiming exclusively military targets, Moscow continues its methodical campaign aimed at destroying infrastructure and intimidating civilians.

Leading European analysts and international human rights organizations emphasize that systematic attacks on populated areas bear the hallmarks of war crimes. Depriving people of safe living conditions and ignoring the norms of international humanitarian law demand a rigorous response from the international community, increased sanctions pressure on the aggressor, and enhanced assistance for the protection of civilians.
