Fourth Strike in a Month: Russia Hits Ukraine’s “BaDM” Medicine Warehouse in Odesa

This morning brought news of another strike on Ukraine’s pharmaceutical infrastructure — Russian forces hit the warehouse of distributor “BaDM” in the Khadzhybei district of Odesa, sparking a fire. Preliminary reports say no one was injured, though the full extent of the damage is still being assessed. The strike came amid repeated attacks on the Universal Logistic warehouse in the Boryspil district of Kyiv region — one of the country’s largest pharmaceutical storage facilities at 21,000 square meters, hit twice in recent days. According to market sources, this marks the fourth strike on pharmaceutical logistics since the start of September alone.

Earlier, on September 3-4, fires destroyed the Biocon, Teva, and WHO warehouses, along with a storage facility belonging to the “Apteka Dobroho Dnya” pharmacy chain — the company reported losing hundreds of tons of medication. According to the Pharmacy Professional Association of Ukraine, stocks of certain medications in some regions could run out within two to three weeks.

Against this backdrop, Russia continued shelling civilians the same day, September 14: at least nine people were killed in strikes on the Sumy, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions. In Kherson, a drone struck a car, killing the driver on the spot. In Sumy region, a 14-year-old boy and a 49-year-old woman were wounded following a mortar attack.

Meanwhile, as Russia spent that same day burning medicine warehouses and shelling civilians across four regions, Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck drone launch sites near Donetsk and UAV control relays in Kherson region and Crimea — hitting the equipment that prepares future attacks, not the people who were simply out buying bread or waiting for medication at the pharmacy.
