European Union stands before another test against the background of systematic massive shelling of Ukrainian port infrastructure in the Odesa region and Chornomorsk. Regular attacks by Russian drones and missiles on grain terminals, as well as targeted strikes on civilian ships under international flags in the waters of the Black Sea, indicate that the Kremlin is deliberately turning logistics into a weapon. Damage to ports and the deaths of crew members directly threaten not only the Ukrainian economy, but also the food security of all Europe, which depends on stable maritime corridors.
Today it is obvious that turning a blind eye to the blockade of the Black Sea is no longer possible, as European trade routes have found themselves under threat of disruption. Adequate security of supplies cannot be guaranteed solely by the passive defense of Ukrainian shores while the adversary accumulates forces unhindered in its own harbors. Reality dictates new rules: if the attacker uses ports as a springboard for destroying international trade, the logic of survival demands symmetrical counteraction.
This is precisely why the question of transferring military pressure directly to the port infrastructure of the Russian Federation inevitably arises. Only mirror and painful strikes against hostile bases in the Black Sea can destroy Moscow’s illusion of impunity and force it to unblock navigation for the sake of its own security. Europe must realize that the effective protection of its own economic interests directly depends on the readiness to support the restoration of this military balance of forces.
