Russia’s Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat refinery complex, one of the country’s largest oil processing facilities, has completely suspended operations following a Ukrainian drone strike overnight on July 14.

The information was reported by Reuters, citing anonymous sources.

According to the governor of Bashkortostan, the refinery is expected to resume operations within the next few days. However, Reuters’ sources say the extensive damage to processing units and industrial equipment means repairs could take several weeks or even months.

Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat is among Russia’s largest refining and petrochemical complexes. It produces gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), polyethylene, and ammonia. In 2024, the facility processed 7.2 million tonnes of crude oil, accounting for roughly 2.7% of Russia’s total refining capacity.

On the night of July 14, Ukrainian drones targeted two Russian oil refineries. In addition to the Bashkortostan facility, the Afipsky Oil Refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region also came under attack. The extent of the damage at the second facility is still being assessed.
