Russian online marketplace Wildberries is expanding its logistics network in Kazakhstan by building two major distribution centers with a combined area of more than 260,000 square meters. The announcement was made by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Trade Arman Shakkaliyev, according to The Moscow Times.

According to the minister, the company plans to complete construction and launch both facilities in the first quarter of 2027. One warehouse, covering 160,000 square meters, is being built in Almaty, while another, measuring nearly 100,000 square meters, is under construction in Astana.

Shakkaliyev said the project is part of the planned expansion of Wildberries’ operations in Kazakhstan. At present, the company leases around 46,000 square meters of warehouse space in the country.

At the same time, the minister noted that the Kazakh government has not yet received any new official requests from the company to build additional logistics facilities.

Despite Wildberries’ large-scale investment, Kazakhstan’s authorities are encouraging consumers to support domestic e-commerce platforms. Shakkaliyev stressed that choosing local marketplaces is an example of economic patriotism.

He also urged Kazakh businesses to carefully assess the risks of working with major online platforms, including potential disruptions to logistics, supply chains, and product storage.

According to the Kazakhstan E-Commerce Entrepreneurs Association, around 200 of its 300 member companies were affected by the attacks on Wildberries logistics hubs in Russia. Preliminary losses are estimated at 1.6 billion tenge, although the minister described that figure as provisional.

Earlier reports said that Wildberries lost around 20% of its warehouse capacity in Russia following Ukrainian drone strikes.
