In response to Russia’s systematic attacks on Ukrainian ports and civilian merchant vessels in the Black Sea, Ukraine has launched a targeted campaign to force Moscow to halt its maritime terrorism. Ukrainian forces are delivering calculated counter-strikes aimed at forcing an end to enemy aggression against international trade corridors.
Continuous attacks by Ukrainian naval and aerial drones on port infrastructure, oil depots, and vessels around Novorossiysk regularly paralyze Russian maritime traffic, according to Deutsche Welle. This disruption directly impacts Russia’s ability to maintain stable export operations in one of its most critical maritime logistics hubs.
Rerouting such massive volumes of cargo, particularly oil and grain, to Baltic or Far Eastern ports is practically impossible due to limited railway capacity. If Ukrainian strikes on Novorossiysk’s strategic infrastructure persist, they will deal a severe blow to the Russian state budget, which remains heavily dependent on oil, gas, and agricultural revenues.
