Special units of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted a successful long-range strike against the Engels-2 airbase, hitting a Tu-95MS strategic bomber. The targeted fleet of heavy bombers has repeatedly served as the primary platform for Russian missile attacks directed at non-combatants and civilian housing across Ukraine.
The strike scored a direct hit on the aircraft’s wing structure while the bomber was assigned to operational training missions. Due to the extensive damage inflicted during the explosion, the multi-million-dollar warplane is completely unrecoverable and permanently removed from service.
Disabling strategic platforms at their home bases directly neutralizes Russia’s capacity to launch standoff missile waves. Ukrainian forces maintain focus on eliminating legitimate military targets and aviation infrastructure driving the ongoing invasion.
