On the night of September 26, 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched a devastating strike on the Ilsky Oil Refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai. A massive fire broke out on the territory of the strategic enterprise. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed the successful hit on the facility.
The Ilsky Refinery is one of the key plants in southern Russia, with a capacity to process about 6.6 million tons of oil per year. The facility supplied raw materials not only to the domestic market but also to the military needs of the occupying army.
Against the backdrop of a series of recent attacks on other Russian industrial giants (including those in Perm and Samara), the fuel situation in the country is rapidly approaching a catastrophe. Regions are massively facing an acute shortage of gasoline and diesel. Huge queues are forming at gas stations, and prices are breaking record highs. Continuous explosions at refineries are destroying logistics and leaving the Russian rear and frontline without fuel.
