On September 28, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine. According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russia launched 165 attack drones and decoy drones overnight, while 112 of them were destroyed or suppressed by Ukrainian air defenses. Hits were recorded at 14 locations, with debris falling at seven additional sites. Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa and other Ukrainian cities were affected. The attack resulted in civilian deaths and injuries.
In Kyiv, damage was reported in at least six districts of the city. Residential buildings, offices, a gas station, cafés and other civilian infrastructure were damaged. By the second half of the day, authorities reported 19 people injured in the capital, including three children. Six people were hospitalized. One woman was also reported killed.
One of the most notable incidents was a strike in central Kyiv that damaged the Dobrobut Medical Center on Antonovycha Street near Olympic Stadium. A fire broke out after the strike and the building was damaged. Dobrobut is a civilian medical facility providing healthcare to both adults and children. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported a strike on a seven-story administrative building in the Shevchenkivskyi district, while photos and videos from the scene showed damage to the medical center. The exact circumstances and nature of the strike are still being established by the relevant authorities.
