On September 30, Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack against Ukraine. Russian forces used 188 attack drones as well as ballistic and other missiles. Ukrainian air defenses reported intercepting or disabling 160 aerial targets. The Kyiv region was one of the main directions of the attack, while strikes and falling debris were also recorded in other parts of Ukraine.
The Russian attack killed at least seven civilians, including a child, and injured 24 others. Two women were killed in Kyiv, while residential and non-residential buildings were damaged. In the Kyiv region, a child was killed after a private house was destroyed. The strikes also damaged energy infrastructure, leaving some consumers without electricity.
The attack targeted energy infrastructure in the Kyiv region and other areas. At the same time, the consequences of the strikes affected civilian infrastructure and resulted in deaths and injuries among civilians. The scale of the attack — involving nearly 190 drones and multiple missiles — made it one of the largest Russian air attacks in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Defense Forces continued operations against Russian military targets. Ukrainian forces struck a Russian drone storage facility in Hranitne in Donetsk region, a Russian command and observation post in Lysychansk, and a repair facility in the Starobilsk area. Ukrainian forces also struck Russian logistics and supply depots in Azovske, Mangush, Novoandriivka and Volnovakha in Donetsk region, as well as in Kumove in occupied Crimea.
Overall, the September 30 attacks demonstrated a clear difference in the targets reported by both sides. Russia’s large-scale attack resulted in civilian deaths, injuries and damage to civilian and energy infrastructure across Ukraine. The Ukrainian strikes reported on the same day were directed at Russian military facilities, including drone and supply depots, a command post and a military repair facility — targets directly connected to Russia’s military operations.
