Iran has agreed to allow IAEA inspectors to return to its nuclear facilities, a move U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance described as an important step toward ending Iran’s nuclear weapons program. He made the announcement during a press conference in Bürgenstock, Switzerland.
According to Vance, the return of IAEA inspectors marks the first step toward the complete denuclearization of Iran or the permanent termination of its nuclear weapons program. He said this was exactly the outcome Washington had been seeking. Vance also noted that the United States is already coordinating with the IAEA and expects inspectors to begin their work in Iran as early as this week.
The U.S. vice president also announced the establishment of a de-escalation mechanism involving Israel, Hezbollah, and Lebanon. He said the arrangement is intended to ensure rapid communication between the parties in the event of unexpected incidents. Vance stressed that the United States aims to safeguard Israel’s security while respecting Lebanon’s sovereignty and preventing the regional situation from spiraling out of control.
