Russia’s agricultural sector is facing the risk of a major crisis ahead of the harvest season due to severe diesel fuel shortages and record-high prices, according to Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD).
The CCD reports that farmers across Russia are increasingly complaining about the unaffordable cost of fuel and warning that they may be unable to harvest crops because of fuel shortages and financial constraints. Meanwhile, Russian authorities continue to claim that the agricultural sector is fully supplied with fuel.
According to the Center, the fuel crisis once again highlights the Kremlin’s priorities: available resources are being directed toward the military-industrial complex, the armed forces, and export revenues, while civilian sectors, including agriculture, are left with only residual support.
