Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting, U.S. Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations John Kelley said Russia should move toward a peace agreement with Ukraine, stressing that time is no longer on Moscow’s side.
According to the U.S. diplomat, Russia is losing around 40,000 troops killed or wounded every month, while its economy continues to weaken. At the same time, Ukraine is rapidly introducing new innovations and strengthening its defense capabilities.
Kelley emphasized that diplomacy and negotiations remain the only realistic path to ending the war. He stressed that continued bloodshed will not bring a solution and that the conflict has already lasted far too long.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump also urged Russia to reach a peace agreement, noting the heavy losses suffered by both sides. Meanwhile, Kremlin officials continue to insist on pursuing Russia’s military objectives.
